Listening Links is the name of an ESL Resource Book published by  Heinemann Educational Books Ltd (1979) and authored by Marion Geddes  and  Gill Sturtridge.  I have done some checking online and it would appear it is currently out of print.  Despite its age, its content and approach are still usable today and now that teachers' are being challenged with arranging online learning there is no reason why this resource cannot be used in a 21st Century classroom.

I have the original tapes and some years ago I had the contents digitised to be able to play on my computer. With resources available today such as WhatsApp, Zoom and other conferencing software then this can be adapted to an online exercise.

The basic methodology behind listening links is there are three separate recordings all talking about the same thing, but with slightly different content.  There is one worksheet that can only be completed if all three listeners share their information.  So they first listen and together they then share with each other to complete the worksheet.  Easy peezy!!!

Procedures

1.  Send three different copies of the listening activity to three students via WhatsApp or email etc.

2.  At the same time send each a copy of the worksheet.

3.  Allocate a time when the students should listen to their recording.

4.  Have the students contact each other (WhatsApp, Zoom etc) so as to complete the worksheet together.

5.  Teacher can check compliance by partaking in the activity or having students email their revised version

     of the worksheet.

Click on the Worksheet to view it, and the title to download it.  The links 1, 2 & 3 are the separate recordings.
